when is a good time to prepare a softball resume?

by kay
(florida)

My daughter is a freshman in high school. she has played travel ball for over 4 years and is a starting infielder. she is not first string on the high school team and doesn't get any playing time. This will not look good on a softball resume for college. We want to begin exposing her but are stumped on how. Any suggestions?

If your daughter is looking to get into college then high school ball will do nothing for her. College's do not go to high schools to scout for girls like they did in the past. College ball is going on the same time that high school ball. They are not going to take out the time to venture to a school to see your kid. They get letters from hundreds of hopefuls each year.I have talked with big college coaches and they said they go to major travel ball tournaments to scout out girls. If you plan on playing at a major tournament over the summer then contact the college your interested in and let them know where you'll be. The only way girls make it to college is by travel ball, so stay on a team and build the skills and don't worry about the teams winning record. You should start planning and puttin info out to colleges around their jr. year in high school.

Great Question
by: A Dissapointed Parent

I am having the same problem. My daugher has always been one of the best, a pitcher, in our league. She has 4 years of experience. Now that she is in High School it is a whole new animal. We are use to well organized sports and now High School is a dissapointment.
Everything is last minute, unorganized mess. The worst part is she is now sitting the bench for the first time. Will the time on the bench hurt her chance of playing college?
