Hi, my name is Alexia and im 12 years old. I play in 14u for travel ball. I play the outfeild..
When someone bunts the 3rd baseman comes toward the plate, the first baseman comes toward the plate, the 2nd baseman covers 1st, and the shortstop covers 2nd. So who covers 3rd? The left fielder does.
As soon as someone shows a bunt the left fielder sprints to 3rd base and gets ready to make a tag.
You also back-up the throw to 3rd when there is a runner on second, and someone bunts. The shortstop comes over and covers 3rd, but the left fielder backs-up the throw just in case there is a bad throw because chances are the runner is going to steal.
You also get the back-up when there is a runner on 3rd.
Hope i helped :)

LF BACKUP by: HEAT
FOR A LEADOFF BATTER, AND WITH NO OTHER RUNNERS ON BASE, THE LF CAN BACK UP 2B. THEY STAY OUT TO THE LEFT SIDE BEHIND 2B IN LINE WITH 1B IN CASE OF AN OVERTHROW AT FIRST. THE OVERTHROW AT 1B WOULD CAUSE THE RF OR CATCHER BACKING UP TO POSSIBLY THROW DOWN TO 2B.
IN THE CASE OF HAVING A RUNNER ON, LF AUTOMATICALLY BACKS UP 3B. ALSO, THEY ARE BACKING UP 3B AFTER EVERY PITCH IF THERE IS A RUNNER ON 2B IN CASE OF A THROW DOWN ON A STEAL.
THE EASY WAY I TELL MY GIRLS IS TO KEEP YOUR BASE IN BETWEEN YOU AND THE BALL. SO IF THE BALL IS PITCHED TO HOME PLATE, THE LF SHOULD BE OUT IN SHALLOW LF ON THE FOUL LINE BACKING UP 3B. IN A RUN DOWN BETWEEN 2B AND 3B, THEY NEED TO BE IN FOUL TERRITORY (NEAR THE COACHES BOX) BACKING UP THE PLAY. JUST MAKE SURE THEY HAVE ADEQUATE SPACE BEHIND THE PLAY TO BE ABLE TO CATCH AN OVERTHROW. YOU DON'T WANT THEM TO BE OVERTHROWN AS WELL.
