Can someone Please give me the definition of Coach or What is a coaches roll/responsibility to his team?
This may seem like a silly ? but my daughter is in her 1st year of 12u Travel Ball. Recently in a parent meeting we were told the Coaches roll is not "to teach" I'm confused did I miss something along the way?I thought a coach is a person that Teaches,Improves,refines and Motivates his/her players Am I wrong? Please Help

That statement is just wrong. Maybe he means that he doesn’t teach during games. I teach during practice and coach during games, so maybe that’s what he meant.

To teach and develop excellent softball skills and to gain an appreciation for and knowledge of the game of softball.

To teach positive life lessons, good sportsmanship, winning and losing with pride, dignity, and TEAMWORK.

To develop the qualities of citizenship and leadership through the game of softball

To promote physical fitness for the players.

To promote principles of positive coaching. To promote a good working relationship with the local travel ball, high school and college fast pitch programs.

These are goals for our travel ball 14u team.

Who ever said that coaches aren't there to teach needs to go back to sitting in the stands, I coach 14u travel, a coach everything from a teacher to a babysitter, with that being said a coach must have the support of the parents in his teaching, I have been doing this for years and every year I find a parent that knows more than the coach but refuses to field a team, so when this keeps happening I cut the girl so I can get on with cocahing the game I love. Hope this helps.
